California Rapid Subway System

TLDR

This map takes the approximate subway map of Barcelona, rotates it 90% while growing it to massive proportions, then grafts it down on the grand old state of California.

Juicy details

California is OK at best when it comes to public transportation. But what if we were rockstars and decided to build a subway that connected the far flung cities and towns of the state? And what if that subway system was designed by someone who was perfectly insane? That was basically my design challenge.

I'm aware of the fact that creating fictional subway maps of states or countries that couldn't actually exist are a bit of a trope in mapping circles. Let's be honest, which fictional cartographer hasn't created one of these? However, I would like a bit of credit in this map for its sure absurdity. Aligning this endeavor to the more-or-less real constraints of the stops on the actual Barcelona subway system, meant it services some truly random (and amazing) locations across the state. Pixel.
