TLDR

The second map in the Great Big World Series, this one narrows down from the globe as a canvas to the crazy country we call home.

Juicy details

This map visualizes the 50 states in our Great Big Country, state capitals, and most of the cities with a population over 200,000 people, since these seemed like the cities most likely to be the subject of a question by my five-year old. The truth is that there were some areas in Southern California and Texas where I had to cull the list a bit because the map was getting out of control. I'm sorry Long Beach.
